Introducing Dr. Sasha Hubschman: Our Newest Oculoplastic Surgeon

Meet Dr. Sasha Hubschman

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sasha Hubschman to California Oculoplastics and Retina. Dr. Hubschman is an ASOPRS fellowship-trained ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in functional, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, orbit, and tear drainage system.

Education and Training

Dr. Hubschman earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating magna cum laude. She received her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and graduated with Research Distinction.

She completed her internship in internal medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by a three-year ophthalmology residency at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. Dr. Hubschman then completed a highly competitive, two-year fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary of the University of Illinois Chicago.

During her fellowship, she received awards recognizing her clinical excellence and commitment to patient care, including the Real World Ophthalmology Outstanding Patient Advocate Award and the Guy H. Chan Jr. Fellow Education Award.

Clinical Expertise and Patient-Centered Care

Dr. Hubschman provides specialized care for conditions affecting the eyelids, orbit, and tear drainage system. Her expertise includes functional and reconstructive procedures, as well as cosmetic eyelid and facial rejuvenation surgery.

She chose oculoplastic surgery because it combines intricate surgical techniques with the opportunity to restore both function and appearance. Dr. Hubschman values developing long-term relationships with her patients and making a meaningful impact on their vision, comfort, confidence, and overall quality of life.

Research and Medical Education

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Hubschman has remained actively involved in clinical research and medical education. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on topics including orbital disease, thyroid eye disease, and artificial intelligence in ophthalmology.

She has also enjoyed teaching ophthalmology residents and participating in global ophthalmology programs.

Personal Interests and Languages

Dr. Hubschman is fluent in English and French and proficient in Spanish, allowing her to connect with and care for patients from diverse backgrounds.

Originally from Los Angeles, she is excited to return home and serve patients throughout Southern California. Outside of medicine, Dr. Hubschman enjoys surfing, hiking, practicing yoga, and exploring new restaurants with her husband.
